Free Amazon Prime Trial 2026

Amazon Prime's 30-day free trial is one of the most valuable free trials in 2026. Beyond the streaming video content (Prime Video), it includes free 1-2 day shipping on millions of items, Prime Music with 100 million songs, Prime Reading with thousands of ebooks and magazines, exclusive deals during Prime Day, and Amazon Photos unlimited photo storage. At $139/year ($14.99/month), knowing how to maximize the trial and find ongoing discounts is essential.

The Standard 30-Day Free Trial

New Amazon Prime members receive 30 days completely free — no charges until day 31. Sign up at amazon.com/prime with a payment method on file. You can cancel anytime during the trial at no cost. The trial activates instantly and includes all Prime benefits from day one: Prime Video streaming, free shipping on eligible items, Prime Music, and all other perks. If you're planning a major Amazon purchase, starting a trial first adds free 2-day shipping as an automatic bonus.

Amazon Prime Student — 6 Months Free

Students with a valid .edu email address receive a 6-month free trial of Amazon Prime Student, which then converts to $7.99/month — nearly half the standard price. This is one of the most generous free trials available for students in 2026. Prime Student includes all the standard Prime benefits: free shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music, and Prime Reading. After the 6-month trial, the discounted student rate continues for up to 4 years of enrollment.

EBT and Government Assistance Discount

Amazon Prime is available at a 50% discount — $7.49/month — for customers receiving government assistance, including EBT/SNAP cardholders, Medicaid recipients, and WIC participants. This reduced rate provides full Prime benefits at less than the student price. Verification is handled through your EBT card number. This program ensures Prime's benefits are accessible to households where the shipping savings are most meaningful.

Maximizing Your Prime Trial Period

To maximize a 30-day trial: start it right before a major purchase or series of purchases to benefit from free shipping. Binge the Prime Video originals you've been wanting to watch (The Boys, Rings of Power, Reacher, Fallout). Download Prime Reading books and Audible Channels content. Use Prime Photos for unlimited photo backup. Order Prime Day deals if the trial overlaps with the July Prime Day event.

Prime Video Content Worth Watching During Your Trial

Amazon Prime Video's original content library has become one of the strongest in streaming. The Boys (satirical superhero series), Reacher (action thriller), Fallout (post-apocalyptic adaptation), The Rings of Power (Tolkien prequel), and Jack Ryan all have multiple seasons. The Thursday Night Football NFL package and live sports broadcasting are also included for US Prime members. A 30-day trial provides enough time to complete 2-3 full seasons of major series while benefiting from shipping on any purchases.
